Brain Injury

Neurofeedback

Neurofeedback is a relaxing, non-invasive process, lasting about 30 minutes. It is usually performed one to three times a week. Using cutting edge computerized biofeedback equipment and capitalizing on recent scientific research that illustrates the profound plasticity of the brain, Dr. Diane® works with individuals to utilize their brain frequencies to the maximum effectiveness.

Using non-intrusive sensors placed in various locations on the scalp, the electrical activity of the brain is measured and the information is "fed back" to that person. An individual plays a specialized video game, the object being to operate the game by controlling specific brain wave activity. Over several sessions, as the individual retrains their brain activity, they increase their skill level, thereby controlling their brain activity.

This exercise strengthens the brain and the rest of the nervous system, with powerful effects on the entire body. With the aid of Dr. Diane® and her state of the art equipment, the individual learns the correct brain wave pattern and therefore learns how to be in the optimal state to perform the tasks or control the behavior that they have had problems with in the past.

This technique is extremely effective for Peak Performance and Mental Enhancement Training, ADD, ADHD, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Pain, Depression, Anxiety, Concussion/Brain Injury, Stroke and MS. Dr. Diane® is one of a limited number of professionals trained and extensively experienced in neurofeedback.

LENS
LENS (Low Energy Neurofeedback System) is a type of neurofeedback which uses extremely weak electromagnetic signals to improve brain function. LENS is used to treat a variety of disorders: Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), depression, anxiety, ADD/ADHD, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, autism, and epilepsy.

LENS works by first mapping the brain and then sending weak electromagnetic signals, which interact with the brain's waves and prompt the brain to respond differently. It requires no conscious effort by the patient and is essentially the brain using its own responses to treat problematic brainwave patterns. It is a painless process and improvements can be seen in 1-3 sessions of LENS.

Dr. Diane® is one of a very limited number of practitioners using this cutting edge neuropsychological treatment. Schedule your consult with Dr. Diane® to find out more about treatment options and whether LENS can help you. Consults and treatments can be carried out in her Boxford, MA office or virtually through Skype. Dr. Diane® can also provide information and recommendations to help you find a clinician in your area.
